The investment and commitment that IACS Ltd has made in its people has been endorsed by peers and clients at the inaugural Gas Industry Awards, where IACS received the ‘Investment in People’ accolade for its pioneering apprenticeship.
The awards, which were delivered by the Institute of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) in partnership with the Energy & Utilities Alliance (EUA), recognised the company’s forward-thinking approach. Not only did the judges call out IACS’ integration of hydrogen safety within its curriculum, but also its proactive approach to addressing an urgent and important skills gap.
Michael Michlovsky, Director at IACS Ltd, comments:
“This is a huge endorsement for IACS. It reinforces our market-leading position and commitment to our industry.
“Our apprenticeship was a long time in the making. Its success is not just a reflection of our hard work, but also of the support that our partners have given each apprentice when they have allowed them to gain valuable experience on their sites.
“Well done to our team and a huge thank you to all of our partners who have supported our ambition and vision for the future.”
The ‘Practitioner in Pipelines for Hydrogen and Utilities’ (PIPHU) programme, which is derived from the Level 3 Construction Support Technician apprenticeship, features the UK’s first Ofqual registered qualification in Hydrogen Safety. Employer-led, it has been created through an innovative partnership between industry, education and specialist skills providers.
James Baker, Operations Manager at IACS Ltd and Head of Apprenticeships, adds:
“Wow! To come away from IGEM with an award was incredible! Our category was tough, especially when you consider the size and scale of those shortlisted. Another reason why our team should be incredibly proud.”
The awards, coordinated by IGEM in partnership with the Energy & Utilities Alliance (EUA), have been recognising and rewarding the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations working in the gas sector for over 25 years.
