IACS T&E, a leading provider of training and education services for pipeline inspectors in the energy sector, has been announced as a regional finalist at the National Apprenticeship Awards 2024.
Our pioneering apprenticeship…
Shortlisted within the North West’s Apprenticeship Employer of the Year category, this recognition comes less than a year after IACS T&E launched its pioneering ‘Practitioner in Pipelines for Hydrogen and Utilities’ (PIPHU) apprenticeship, demonstrating the company’s commitment to bridging the skills gap in the green energy sector.
The apprenticeship, which was developed in partnership with Hopwood Hall College and is based at its Middleton campus, is a shining example of what can be achieved when industry and educators come together to address urgent and important skills needs.
An exciting shortlist…
Laura Hewitt, Director at IACS Training & Education, comments:
“We are beyond excited to be shortlisted in the Apprenticeship Employer of the Year category in this year’s National Apprenticeship Awards. It is a testament to the hard work of our team and partners who have devoted their time and expertise to develop an innovative, transformative apprenticeship programme.
“Our goal when launching IACS T&E was to develop a team of individuals that can confidently contribute to the evolving energy sector, particularly as we transition towards net zero.
“Just 12 months into our programme and this is already happening. Our dedication is not only developing highly skilled individuals who have exciting careers ahead, but we are placing a positive spotlight on our industry and the opportunities that it presents.
“This means a great deal to us!”
An innovative collaboration…
Joanne Taylor, Vice Principal Apprenticeships & Future Skills at Hopwood Hall College, comments:
“Congratulations to IACS T&E on being shortlisted form this prestigious award! We are proud to collaborate with IACS on this innovative apprenticeship program, which addresses the future skills needed in the green energy sector. As an employer, IACS’s commitment and investment exemplify what a supported apprenticeship program should be”
About the apprenticeship…
The PIPHU apprenticeship, derived from the Construction Support Technician apprenticeship standard, offers a unique blend of classroom learning and on-site experience, which takes place over 16 months.
Through two cohorts, 22 apprentices are actively progressing through the programme. A diverse group has been attracted, including four females, which is actively challenging many existing stereotypes held within the industry.
